Case Study: Custom Halo-Lit Channel Letters for Luxury Boutique Facade

A Los Angeles-based commercial general contractor was tasked with installing exterior and interior entrance signage for a luxury flagship fashion boutique on Rodeo Drive. The architectural designer required an ultra-sophisticated aesthetic: custom mirror-gold halo-lit channel letters mounted on a smooth, imported white Italian marble facade.

Upon receiving the client's 2D vector logo files, LUZ Sign’s engineering team performed an immediate technical analysis and provided detailed 3D CAD shop drawings within 24 hours.

• Precision Laser Welding & PVD Coating: Fabricated housings using 1.5mm 316 stainless steel, seamlessly laser-welded with hand-polished mirror edges before applying a physical vapor deposition (PVD) gold finish.
• Optical Diffusion Backplates: Engineered clear 8mm polycarbonate backplates embedded with 160° wide-angle, IP67 waterproof 3000K LED modules to ensure smooth, diffused light scattering against the marble backdrop.
• Concealed Standoff Mounting System: Designed custom threaded standoff posts (1.0-inch offset) allowing hidden wiring channels through marble grout lines, eliminating visible exterior screws.

All channel letter components were built in strict compliance with LUZ Sign’s official UL Listing File No. E523796 standards. Fire-retardant wiring harnesses and certified Mean Well Class 2 120V power drivers were integrated into the assembly.

Before export packaging, the entire signage set underwent a 48-hour continuous electrical burn-in test to verify voltage stability and color consistency across all letter characters. The finished signage was secured inside a heavy-duty, foam-lined fumigated export wooden crate alongside a 1:1 scale CAD paper mounting template.

Thanks to the pre-drilled standoff mounts and the included 1:1 full-scale template, the local installation crew completed the field installation on the marble facade in under 3.5 hours. The city building inspector verified the official holographic UL label and approved the electrical permit on first inspection.
